What’s the difference between Medicare and Medi-Cal (Medicaid)?

Medicare and Medi-Cal are both government health care programs, but they are very different. Medicare is typically for people who are 65 or older, or who have a qualified disability. Medi-Cal is a state-governed program for people with limited income and resources. Some people are eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. These people are considered “dual eligible” or “Medi/Medi” and are often qualified for special Medicare plans.
