You can make changes to your Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage when certain events happen in your life. These opportunities to make changes are called Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs). Here’s some examples: if you are dual eligible (have both Medicare and Medi-Cal). Or, if you receive some form of low-income assistance (Low Income Subsidy, or State Pharmacy Assistance). Did you recently lose other insurance coverage (including employer group coverage). Have you just turned age 65 or on your 25th month of Disability. Have you recently moved or are planning to move in the near future. Are you receiving care for a chronic need diagnosis such as diabetes, or a chronic coronary (heart) issue?
